After our little meeting we were allowed to attend a lecture being given to 2nd year med students and my first interview was around 10. My first interviewer, Dr. Bryan Welm, was a cancer researcher at the Huntsman Institute. I liked the guy. We chatted for a little while as he asked me questions about my research and leadership. We also talked about the future of health care (we both had similar opinions which was a relief) and finished up talking about the U and his personal opinions about the program. He only had good things to say about the University.
After that interview I returned to the admissions office and our group got a tour of the health sciences building and ate lunch with current 2nd year students. It was nice to chat with current students and hear their thoughts on the U and the programs available to students. Overall I thought they were pretty happy with their situation at the U.
Finally, after lunch, I had my final interview with a Mrs. Rebecca Buxton, a microbiology teacher for 1st year students. She was extremely nice, dare I say giddy, and we talked about similar issues that arose in the first interview. She mentioned that she actually enjoyed reading over my file (she also mentioned that she cant say that for every file she has read over) and we talked about a few thing in my personal statement such as the Northridge Earthquake and my dad's practice burning down a few years ago.
I felt pretty good about the interviews. I'm not sure how my interviewers felt, but I enjoyed them. Unfortunately, I wont hear about a decision until late march. So There's plenty of time to think.
Next up... the University of Colorado!
